Art is African life. It’s in the way we dress, the way we make music; our religious rituals, and jewelry, textiles, and masks worn in traditional ceremonies. That’s just a few examples. Across the diaspora are many cultures, tribes, and ways of life with their own unique artistic styles and manifestations. Odyssey Artisans aims to work with African artists to write the narrative on contemporary art history, instead of letting it be written for us.
